In the spirit of transparency Reader, my creative energy these days has been low.
Typically, I'm full of ideas and bursting at the seams to share my thoughts (and opinions on the things!) with you. But on my own burnout recovery journey, I've had to learn to be honest with myself around when my energy is low. I'm still learning to challenge my inner critic and swap out negative self-talk with self-compassion as often as possible. I'm still unlearning toxic productivity while living within a pro-capitalist society. And today, I'm recognizing that the struggle and creative burnout has been realer than real.
In my workshops and in my community, I've noticed that there is a shared experience of feeling not only checked out, but feeling emotionally drained, disconnected and grieving.
The truth is, it's unrealistic (and pretty unfair) to always expect yourself to be upbeat, joyful and full of energy -- especially now. I have a strong feeling you're the furthest from lazy or "unproductive". It could be that you too are truly doing the best you can.
